It was nice to get away from snowy Riverview for a bit. Here it was sunny and warm. Not like tropical hot, but still warm. Like, you could wear a t-shirt, but had to keep your pants on. It was still winter though so you couldn't run around in shorts. In the rest of France it was snowing but in this remote village, snow never reached it.
We arrived Saturday morning, around 8.00 o'clock. It was just outside of paris, a little town called Champs Les Sims. It had a winery and a beautiful museum. On our first day we went to the market.
We had a romantic kiss at the fountain, which was in the middle of the market, surrounded by trees.
Then we visited the café and got something to eat. We were starving after our hour-long flight. I was also very tired, so i quickly got a nap at the hotel.
The hotel was kind of cute. It was traditional that every tourist came and stayed at that hotel. Which also meant it was packed with people. Thank god we had reserved a bedroom for us to stay in. Not everyone had done that, so they had to sleep outside in a tent.
We were staying for a week, from Saturday to Friday. So we had time enough to get to see it all. We had talked about going to see Paris, but it would take hours by train, since it didn't have a direct route. Strange, i know. So we decided to just keep it easy and take our time with walks and talks about our future. And of course, our main reason for this vacation: getting married!
The first couple of days we spend seeing the different kinds of tourist attractions like the museum: La Gallerie d'art, Champs Les Sims Nectary and the Burial Grounds. We also visited the graveyard. for some reason Bob really wanted to see the french tombstones. They were beautiful in their own way.
On the 5th day we decided that now was the time.
We got all dressed up, i had packed a cute wedding dress. Nothing fancy but still pretty. And he had packed his black suit.
We went to the winery, an hour before they opened to the public. Just to the side was a fountain, surrounded by hedges and flowers.
"This is it. This is the spot where i will become your husband you my wife." Oh Bob, he was such a romantic.
As we stood there, i couldn't help think back to when we were in highschool. My first true love was Bob. And now i was standing in France, getting married! Back home i had a steady job, great in-laws and friends. Right here, right now, it was just us two, no one else.
Bob had done that internet programme where you could learn to wed others. So now he was wedding us. We didn't need an actual church priest, just us two.
And finally we got to:
"I do."
"I do."
And we were married!
Then he whispered in my ear: "I will love you for always and forever, my true love," and he kissed me gently on my cheek. I bet my smile could have been seen from space, how wide it was.
I couldn't stop looking at my ring, so shiny! We were inside the winery, or nectary, whichever you prefer. We tried the nectar brewing machines, and tasted some of the premade nectar, and it was a taste i had never experienced before. My taste buds exploded, that's how good it was.
"I want to make nectar like this! This is the best!"
"okay hun, but you know we don't have that much money left."
"I know, but i really want this."
"Hmm, okay lets see. It costs 1.500 simoleons, and if i get a bottle of that... and that... hmm.. then we have around 700 simoleons left. It's good we have our return ticket. But you know we really need to have some left for when we get back home. We don't want to spend all of our money, especially if we are to, you know." he winked at me, and i knew what he meant. We both wanted children as soon as we were married. When we were done here, we were going back to the hotel to do some practice.
"I'll be careful with the money, alright? Just remember it's not just you bringing home money, i do it too."
"Just remember- don't use them all."
Bob was very strict when it came to money and our economy. Understandable, since he didn't have any money himself until he aged up. His parents saved his weekly allowance and put them in the bank for when he graduated high School.
Still, i was getting kind of sick from hearing about money all the time. Hopefully this would change soon. I didn't want our kids to be raised the way he was raised, with never getting your allowance.
After we bought the nectar making equipment and a bottle of their finest nectar (that we could afford), we went back to the hotel to try to conceive a baby.
The next day we went to the bookstore again. I wanted to look at some nectar making books, that were only sold at this bookstore. You couldn't buy them back home.
"Honey, look! I found them all!"
"That's great Alyca. How much did you pay?"
"It was the last three they had left. I was so lucky to get them. I..."
"Alyce dear, how much?" His voice was sweet, but his tone was dangerous.
I whispered something, he couldn't hear me. "What?"
"570..." i whispered, a little higher.
He looked furious. And his voice dripped with acid.
"You have got to be kidding me? I told you that we almost no money left, and then you go spend the rest of them? Oh no, sweetheart don't cry." His eyes, that before was sour and angry, was now soft and forgiving.
I had started to cry, well whimper is more accurate. A stray tear ran down my face. He cupped me in his arms and rocked me back and forth. "There there, i didn't mean it that hard. I love you and i want to make you happy, but we also have to have money to survive. And now we might be having a baby, so we need all the money we can get."
"I know," i whimpered. "I-I'm sorry."
Things got better soon. We spend the rest of the day looking at relics and and other stuff at the market. When the sun began to lower itself towards the horizon, we went back to the hotel and tried again to conceive. Hopefully all this "practice" would be the beginning of something beautiful.
Afterwards we sat on the bed in our underwear, playing board games. We found them in the bottom drawer in the dresser.
"I won!" I yelled, very happy.
He laughed at me, pushed the game to the side and laid himself on top of me, kissing my mouth tenderly. "I love you, you know that? I just want you to know that. No matter what, i will always love you."
It was a tender moment, and i was sad to see it be ruined, but... "Oh no," I hold my hand over my mouth. Move! I said with hand gestures. He quickly got out of the way so i could run to the bathroom. When i got back my face was completely white.
"Sweetheart are you okay?" Worry was painted across his face.
"Yes, yes" I panted a bit. "Oh no.." Then i ran back to the bathroom once more.
